Geology and hiking. Two thumbs up… each.
Heya!
This is a video taken last Friday of a friend and I driving up to the Stawamus Chief. Good hike, if you’re in decent shape. I wouldn’t say I’m in bad shape. I do hot and power yoga a few times a week, I love hiking, and I can’t live without the gym. I’ve been a little less active than I normally am since I left to work on the ship. This is just me trying to get back to the more active me…
The Chief, I would say, is more challenging than the grind. They’re both pretty much climbing large stairs up the side of a mountain, but it takes longer to hike the chief than the grind for sure… but we hiked up to second peak. The grind has an elevation of 365 meters, the Chief has an elevation of 702 meters. I find when I start hiking the grind I hate my life, but when I reach the 1/4 mark, I get a sudden burst of energy that lasts me until the end. I had to take a breather or two on the Chief, but it was most likely due to the fact that I haven’t gone on a hike like that for about three years!
I’m going again tomorrow with my camera, of course!
I hope you enjoy the video!
P.S. If you live in the Vancouver area, and you’ve never checked out this spectacular landscape I think that you have serious mental problems. If you’re from somewhere else, and you’re looking for a cool place to visit, consider it done! Bald Eagles are nesting in the tree behind my house (THREE fledglings this year! So amazing!). It must also be said that I’ve done a fair amount of traveling, and every time I come home it blows me away beyond anything else I’ve ever experienced! I’m in love with British Columbia.
